How store links work on Robot Doorstep
Short version: store links on this site are not affiliate links yet; we earn nothing from them today. When we join a maker's or retailer's program, those links get marked as sponsored (rel="sponsored") and we may earn a commission. That never changes our verdicts, our rankings or which robots we cover.
Which links earn us money today?
None, as of Oct 29, 2026. Every "Check price at" and "See at" button goes to the maker's own US store or a major US retailer's product page, with no tracking code added. We don't use Amazon links at all.
We plan to join the affiliate programs some makers and retailers run. When a link starts paying us, its button gets rel="sponsored" in the page code, and this page will list the programs we belong to. The price you pay is the same either way; the store pays any commission, not you.
The rules we hold ourselves to
- Picks and rankings are set before we look at which stores pay a commission. A robot that pays us nothing can be our top pick, if it earns it.
- If a better deal sits at a store that doesn't pay us, we link that store.
- No maker or retailer can buy a place on a list, a better verdict, or the removal of an owner complaint.
- Sponsored articles, if we ever run them, will be labeled "Sponsored" at the top and kept out of our rankings.
- Prices on the site are the ones we saw, with the store and the date. Prices change; the store's page is the final word.
How we judge robots
Our verdicts come from spec sheets, maker pages, FCC filings and owner reports. We have not tested these robots hands-on, and we say so on every page. How we work explains the method in full.
Questions about a link on a specific page? A contact form is coming; until then, our advertise page explains how we handle commercial requests.
